The Rise of the Medical Emergency, Pt. 86 - Sept 8th - Sept 10th Reports
Today we have a band member, a player, AND a referee dying or worse in-game. Whether you're on your way to school, or already at school, in the band, or in Kalamazoo, it's TROME.
1) Pennsylvania School Bus Crash Hospitalizes Nearly 50 Students
Nope. This isn’t the crash you heard about, the charter bus carrying band members that wrecked from a blown out tire that made national news. This is a case of a zombie tow truck driver hitting a school bus full of children.
Maybe not so newsworthy to the shotted. You be the judge.
‘A school bus crashed into a tow truck on Wednesday morning, leaving 49 students and two adults hospitalized, reported the New York Post.’
‘Capt. Patrick Dougherty said the initial investigation indicates that the operator of the tow truck suffered a medical emergency, which caused him to cross into oncoming traffic.’
Oh my god.
This is major national news. The bus that we were told blew out a tire was national news. That was just a few days ago. This is a head-on collision with a tow truck.
Even the sensationalism and human interest angle isn’t enough for these craven sheep in the media. They baa-ah and run. Absolutely pathetic.
2) 16-year-old high school band member suffers fatal medical emergency during game
‘EL PASO, Texas (KFOX) — A Texas high school student who collapsed during a football game has died.’
‘The El Paso Independent School District confirmed a 16-year-old Bowie High School band member suffered a medical emergency during a football game between Bowie High School and Ysleta High School on Friday.
Officials with University Medical Center on Monday morning confirmed he passed away.
The district said in a statement the student was treated at the scene before being taken to a local hospital.
Armando Adame and Liana Armijo are athletic trainers with Ysleta ISD and were two of the people that provided aid to the student. They described it as a chaotic situation but also a miracle that he responded to their aid.’
‘Armijo, who has been an athletic trainer with Ysleta ISD for 20 years, said Friday night’s incident was shocking, as she never had to give CPR to a student athlete in all of her years as trainer.’
‘While the cause of the students' emergency is unknown, Armijo said she believes the summer heat played a huge factor.’
I’ll bet she does. I just don’t have words for these people.
3) American-Goleman game suspended in fourth quarter due to player’s medical emergency
‘Deep into a competitive football game at Milander Park on Friday night, a medical emergency suspended the game between American and Goleman in the fourth quarter.
American held a 14-12 lead over Goleman when one of Goleman’s players, receiver Jamontay Parks, collapsed near the sideline after a play
The medical emergency resulted in a stoppage of play that lasted about 20 minutes until an ambulance arrived to treat Parks and take him to a nearby hospital.
Shortly after, the game was officially suspended.’
‘As of Saturday morning, Goleman had received some news that Parks was diagnosed with a concussion, but did not suffer any spinal or neck injury. He was scheduled to be released from the hospital later in the day.’
He collapsed after a play and they think he had a concussion.
I think they’re not thinking.

An update about Kourtney Kardashian. Earlier sources said the medical emergency wasn’t related to her children. I knew they were lying.

There you have it.

‘The widow and family members of a man who fell ill during a United Airlines flight to Guatemala City and died shortly after deplaning the aircraft claim flight attendants failed to provide their deceased relative with medical assistance despite being reportedly told he was sick.
Delfino Raul Velasco Maldonado was traveling with his wife Marina on the United Airlines flight from Los Angeles International Airport to Guatemala City in March 2022 when he started to suffer from an unspecirfied medical condition according to a lawsuit filed in a California district court earlier this week.
During the four-hour flight, Marina says she told the flight attendants at least twice that her husband wasn’t feeling well and required medical assistance. The lawsuit alleges that the flight attendants failed to heed Marina’s warnings and didn’t offer any form of medical assistance to her husband.
Marina and her husband deplaned the aircraft as normal, cleared customs and made it all the way to the airport exit when he suddenly collapsed. Marina and onlookers rushed to Delfino’s aid and attempted to resuscitate him but by the time paramedics arrived he was declared dead.’

'So Lisa says, 'I think she might be bleeding', so I go upstairs and we turn on the light, and there's blood everywhere! So Lisa's having a panic attack and I'll say 'I'll handle this''.

19) Family alleges foul play, as London-bound Nigerian dies on board EgyptAir
I don’t know what “sunnewsonline.com” is. This story seems to have been picked up mostly in the Nigerian press. The BBC did a story on it, but in their Pidgin edition. Did you know that’s real? I started reading the article and I had no idea what was happening. I thought it was an “Ipsum so dolor..” or whatever that phrase is inserted as a space holder or something and published by mistake. Nope.
‘A Nigerian passenger, Ms. Meshioye Toyosi Remilekun, who took an EgyptAir flight from Lagos to London on Monday, September 4th, 2023, has been reported dead.’
‘[She] fell sick in the plane and on landing in Cairo they rushed her to the hospital in town where she later died.’
‘General Manager of EgyptAir in Nigeria, Mr. Basha confirmed the incident and said the passenger’s route was Lagos to London via Cairo but that when the passenger arrived at the transit area, she reported sick and the airport quarantine department was called to check her and decided that she needed to be hospitalised.’
I really don’t know what happened.
Normalization TROME. I’ve been saving a lot of these stories. I keep thinking I’m going to do a Normalization TROME article or something. I might. But these two were just too egregious. The Manchester Evening News and The New York Times teamed up, both publishing this same article on the same day. It’s about a bad case of sepsis in a fairly young woman, and it’s from 5 years ago.
At the point in time in which we’re watching stars young and old fall prey to sudden infections — from Justin Bieber to Madonna — after taking a shot that has been demonstrated to decrease immune system functioning — ahem:
BNT162b2 COVID-19 vaccination in children alters cytokine responses to heterologous pathogens and Toll-like receptor agonists
— you don’t need to go back 5 years to find a compelling medical story regarding sepsis. But that’s what these two brought us. I’m not going to go through this article, but they’re the same one. Same owners of these two publications?

21) Annastacia Palaszczuk reveals she spent hours in hospital after 'medical episode' in June
‘Annastacia Palaszczuk has revealed she was rushed to hospital after suffering a medical episode during the Labor Party state conference earlier this year.’
‘On her first day back following a two-week overseas holiday that was dominated by speculation about her future as Queensland premier, Palaszczuk fronted a press conference on Monday afternoon when she revealed she spent several hours in emergency care at Mackay Hospital in June.’
Well, nice of her to tell everyone about it. About that:
‘"I shared with cabinet this morning that during the state conference, I had a medical episode," Palaszczuk told reporters.’
And that’s about that.
‘Palaszczuk didn't divulge exactly what the medical issue was, but said she had gone through a number of tests afterwards which had cleared her.’
Adieu
Damn! Another HIPS conspiracy!!!
Hidden In Plain Sight.
If I survive my SS rookie season, it will be because of you Zoë!
There was a game of sorts back when, called "The Sims" that allows players to create and dress characters called "Sims", build and furnish houses for them, and simulate their everyday lives. Apparently it was really popular and the new version has built up whole societies. Substack feels a bit like that. I follow a few and visit them on occasion. I see some people (avatars) that I recognize. Some of them have fervent followers that are truly committed to the words cast out weekly or even daily. I've seen you around and thought: Hey there's Chad...what up Chad? Some throw out current fresh provocative topics and create comment frenzy's, that then generate likes and replies and everyone gets a bit of a dopamine hit. It's not virtual reality and not Sims with new hairstyles but it seems like a slow creep to it. I write this because I appreciate what and how you have chosen to express what you see as important. Not too much, but enough to make a consistent point with personal details attached to some like film Easter eggs. If ever you do a low profile tee, I'm down. Forgive me for not knowing....TROME??
