Des Moines police reveal name of driver who died in Friday morning crash with semi-truck
Jun 9 — ‘It is unclear whether the apparent medical event contributed to the circumstances of the fatal crash.
‘However, investigators said evidence at the scene shows the semi-truck driver veered from the northbound lane into the southbound lane of Merle Hay Road by the Douglas Avenue intersection, where it struck [50-year-old Ankeny resident Chad Kevin Lentz]'s vehicle. Lentz was traveling southbound at the time. After crashing into Lentz's Nissan sedan, the semi-truck continued off the road and crashed into a utility pole, according to the release.
‘First responders arrived on scene [and] pronounced [Lentz] dead at the scene and transported the driver of the semi-truck, a 55-year-old Newton man, to the hospital. Parizek said the man "appeared to be suffering from a medical event" and he was transported to the hospital in "critical condition.”’

ESPN EMPLOYEE DIED JUST BEFORE START OF ALABAMA-WAKE FOREST SUPER REGIONAL GAME
Jun 10 — ‘An ESPN employee working the Alabama-Wake Forest NCAA Super Regional Saturday morning in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, died approximately an hour before the game’s scheduled start at noon, an OutKick source confirmed.
Game officials postponed the start of the game until 2:15 p.m. at Wake Forest’s David F. Couch Ballpark. The ESPN employee had just attended a pregame meeting about the game’s coverage that was scheduled for ESPN.’ [Emphasis added]
Lauren Harries' family gives health update as she was put into coma with mystery illness
Jun 10 — ‘Lauren Harries' family have given a health update on the Big Brother star after she was put into a coma.
The reality TV personality underwent had to have brain surgery back in April after falling ill with a mystery illness.
She was then put into an induced coma earlier this week following a seizure.’ [Emphasis added]
‘Lauren could be seen drawing a picture in a hospital bed as the caption read: "Lauren was woken after her induced coma, she still has painful seizures which cause her whole body to shake uncontrollably.
‘“Doctors are still unable to diagnose what's causing any of this, they are testing different medications to help. Thank you all for keeping her in your thoughts. She loves you all.”
‘Lauren's mum Katy, who has been keeping fans updated, said medical staff had been stumped by Lauren's illness.’ [Emphasis added]

Six Meramec Heights employees, three others hurt in crash

Jun 9 — ‘Meramec Heights Elementary School staff and parents are seeking help to support six employees and three others who recently were hurt in a one-vehicle accident in south St. Louis County.
‘[…] Ryan J. Calhoun, 42, of Fenton was driving a 2016 Nissan passenger at I-55 and Butler Hill Road and suffered a medical emergency before the van ran off the right side of the interstate and struck a tree, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.’ [Emphasis added]
‘Katherine Calhoun is a nurse and married to Ryan Calhoun; Helfin is a special education teacher; Brown is a third grade teacher; Kleissle is a kitchen manager; Rachel Daniels is a third grade teacher and married to Jeffrey Kyle Daniels; Reyes is a fifth grade teacher; and Kuta is a former Meramec Heights teacher, according to Meramec Heights Principal Dustin Bain’s Facebook message.’

2 pedestrians critically injured when pickup truck jumps curb, slams into bus stop in downtown LA
Jun 10 — ‘Two pedestrians were critically injured Saturday morning when a large pickup truck jumped a curb, slammed into a bus stop and then flattened a fence in downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.
‘The driver suffered an unspecified medical emergency before the crash and no crime was involved, according to the LAPD.
‘Whether the driver was injured in the collision was unclear.’ [Emphasis added]
Forest native dies in medical emergency crash
Jun 9 — ‘A Forest man died in a single-vehicle crash in Bedford County Friday.
The crash occurred at 7:05 a.m. on Perrowville Road, one-tenth of a mile north of Farmington Road, according to Virginia State Police.
56-year-old William Canfield was driving a Jeep Cherokee north on Perrowville Road when, police believe, he had a medical emergency before the crash occurred.

EVERY day. EVERY day, I read this and EVERY day I am still amazed at the lack of awareness of what's going on. Are everyday people just not aware of these events, or are they keeping track but still think it's normal? I honestly don't get it.
