"One Soldier Dead, Another Hospitalized Amid Outdoor Fitness Tests in Mississippi Heat Wave".
That link title has deceptive data to be sure. Those are Mississippi Army Guard soldiers. Most of them know heat and humidity well. That being typed..if its mid 80's and 90% humidity at 0600, then at 0700 it's almost certainly worse. Tag on the additional fact that oft times the Army will ride that line between what Has To Be Done and what Should. It's woven into the mil universe, and they ain't the best at it. I've seen peeps drop with that heat and that level of humidity. Got lots of time in that sweaty saddle myself but this one won't get a single eye bat from those that have not seen all sorts of military training issues from dehydration, heat stress/stroke, dangerous supplementation, (creatine et al) poor judgment and preparation + hangover. These things happen and the mil world is so closed off, most haven't a clue about what's actually 'trending' there.
When I went to read the link you had I saw to the right side of the main story a list of topics. This is what I mean by what's trending in the green bubble:
"Air Force Won't Disclose Causes of 17 Deaths at Tinker Air Force Base This Year"
Take a gander. Thats the AF hiding "potential" suicides at a single base, over a single year. That number of unconnected AF deaths is screaming "over here!". Military issues worldwide is not something thats broached often by Big Substack. It's a closed loop.
If you seek out the large number of military pilots, and special operators that stood down on the voodoo tequilu shats and lawyerd up years back, you will see the civilian reflection there. Mil VAERS is another optics illusion that was thought to be in one hand, but was seemingly in the other.
I feel like I'm attempting an online degree in propaganda forensics. I know I am way more used to the ambient chaos that drizzles down everywhere all the time and that can't be good.
It's the that film trope... "it may go all the way to the top'.
The nine soldiers were a mixed bag from the many commands at Bragg and with nearly 60k soldiers, a wound down war, its easy to obfuscate causes. They'd rather you believe suicide or just about anything else.
The unimaginable is happening.
Re: Soldier in Illinois
A male soldier died, Nathaniel Jefferson age 38. The test was conducted at 0600. Temperature was in the mid-80's, humidity 90%.
My husband and I are USMC veterans. We've both trained in weather much hotter than that.

Thanks for that link devil dog(s).
Interesting that the AF is hiding "potential"suicides. The Navy has been pretty transparent about theirs.
