1) Gabrielle Mooney, Sister Of Shay Mooney, Opens Up About Her Life-Saving Emergency Brain Surgery & Miraculous Recovery
Source: musicmayhemmagazine.com
‘Singer/songwriter Gabrielle Mooney, sister of Dan + Shay’s Shay Mooney, faced a traumatic medical emergency that led to a life-saving brain surgery. Now, she is bravely sharing her story for the first-time ever as she continues her miraculous recovery.’
‘“I had brain surgery in February, let’s talk about it,” Gabrielle began. I was coming home to Arkansas for Valentine’s Day and got a horrible headache [and] I make it home and my mom finds me in the bathroom throwing up [and] I don’t remember any of this.”’
I’ve heard this before, where the person is awake and doing things but they don’t remember it.
‘“Again, I don’t remember any of this. They get me to [the] neighboring hospital and I don’t remember this, but I died,” she revealed.’
Died suddenly.
‘[She] then revealed that she had a very large cyst on her brain and was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus.’
‘The doctor said he put me in a case study because it was one of the biggest cysts he’s ever seen and the hydrocephalus and everything should’ve killed me and it did not,” Gabrielle continued.’
One of the biggest cysts he’s ever seen? You know, that sounds familiar. Thankful for small favors, I’m happy to report at least that this little girl’s tumor was benign (Story #10)
‘Due to her medical condition, Gabrielle Mooney has been experiencing facial paralysis, leading to symptoms such as drooping and a lopsided smile.’
Damn. Well, at least she doesn’t have shingles, or else it could have been much worse.
2) Influencer wakes from medically induced coma, reunites with baby
‘Social media influencer Jackie Miller James, who went through brain surgery and a C-section in May, is now awake, according to a statement shared by her family.’
Whoa.
‘At nine months pregnant, James suffered a brain aneurysm.’
I hope brain aneurysms aren’t contagious, because there sure are a lot of them going around.
‘She was put in a medically-induced coma, and her baby girl was hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit for 12 days due to the traumatic nature of her birth.’
Alive, though.
‘On July 2, nearly one month after the last update on her condition, James’ family revealed in a statement that she is conscious and has been transferred to a neurological rehabilitation hospital.’
‘James is on an “incredibly long road to recovery,” according to the statement. Doctors are “pleased” by her recently tests and evaluations and, the family said, she’s “performing above expectations” relative to her current stage of recovery.’
Brutal.
Jackie is 35 years old.
3) Everything we know about major emergency response on Anglesey
‘Police cars, ambulances and two air ambulances were sent to Maes Mynydd, in the Llaingoch area, of Holyhead, after an incident before 1.45pm.
There were little details from police and the Welsh Ambulance Service yesterday about the nature of the incident. But North Wales Police later released an update to say it was a "medical emergency".’
Well, there’s always a bright spot.
4) Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance makes 5000th response to time-critical emergencies
‘A tourist who collapsed while hillwalking on the west coast Isle of Luing has prompted the landmark 5000th rapid emergency response from Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA).’
Did they bring him a certificate? Or a chocolate or something?
‘Firefighters then helped stretcher the man, who had been hillwalking with his wife, to the nearby helicopter and SCAA airlifted him to advanced care at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow – just a 25-minute flight away by air ambulance, compared to several hours by road and ferry.
After a two-day stay in hospital he was well enough to return home.’
What a milestone. 5,000 flights.
And counting.
5) Stamford emergency dispatcher killed in crash a 'tremendous loss' for first responders
‘Stamford first responders are mourning one of their own.
Stamford resident Colin Kennedy, 46, a veteran Stamford public safety dispatcher, was killed early Friday in a head-on crash on Interstate 95 in Greenwich.’
‘The crash occurred near Exit 5 on the northbound side of Interstate 95 around 1:45 a.m., according to state police.
Investigators determined Kennedy was driving a 2017 Ford Mustang in the right lane of three when the Mustang drifted into the right shoulder of the highway, striking a metal guardrail, according to state police. The Mustang then careened across all three travel lanes and struck a concrete median, state police said, causing it to spin out in the left lane.’
‘Approaching the scene, state police said, a 2019 Infiniti Q50 Luxe driven by a 39-year-old Stamford woman hit the Mustang head-on. Kennedy and the Stamford woman, who suffered minor injuries, were transported to Stamford Hospital by Greenwich Emergency Medical Services personnel, according to state police. Kennedy was pronounced dead around 2:30 a.m. Friday, police said.’
‘State police on Sunday said the investigation remains active.’
6) AIR AMBULANCE MEDICS SCRAMBLED TO MEDICAL INCIDENT IN EAST COWES
‘It’s thought a medical emergency – possibly in a public space – has prompted the scrambling of the helicopter from its base at Thruxton near Andover.’
‘It’s thought the individual has been conveyed by land ambulance to St Mary’s Hospital instead.’
7) Come By Chance firefighters reeling after the loss of one of their own
‘Cory Smith, a long-serving volunteer firefighter, was discovered by his fellow firefighters deceased inside his home on Wednesday.’
‘His cause of death has not been released, but Chief Antle described it as a medical emergency.’
8) Renowned Clown Brincos Dieras Hospitalized in Emergency, Tour Dates in the United States Cancelled
‘The famous clown Brincos Dieras has been hospitalized in an emergency due to health complications that arose during his ongoing tour in the United States. The incident happened just as the highly anticipated event was about to begin, abruptly halting the comedian’s performance.’
‘The situation has taken a serious turn, raising concerns about the severity of the health issue faced by Brincos Dieras. Shortly after the postponement of the Detroit show, it was confirmed that the event in Indianapolis also had to be canceled. The extent to which this unforeseen health problem affects the remainder of the tour remains uncertain at this point. Doctors have advised the comedian to observe compulsory rest for the time being.’
Adieu.
