#1 Akron firefighter saves partner after he has medical emergency driving ambulance - Ambulance stopped just feet before a 50-foot drop
Source: news5cleveland.com
VIDEO report - Very moving interview
‘It was White's first night with her new partner in the ambulance. As they were driving down Arch Street, White noticed the ambulance veering, and her partner, who was behind the wheel, having had a medical emergency. He went unconscious.
"I looked over and saw my partner was kind of slumped over," she said.’
Don’t worry it gets worse.
‘Her partner's foot hit the accelerator, and the out-of-control ambulance hit two poles, knocking down wires. She reached around the computer system and grabbed the steering wheel.’
‘"I was trying to reach over and steer from the passenger seat and trying to climb over all these things that are here," White said. "I think I'm the only person that's small enough that works here that's small enough to climb over through that."’
You never do know what you’re going to think about at times like these, I imagine.
‘She doesn't remember exactly how it happened, but she was somehow able to shimmy her way over to the driver's side and hit the brakes.’
God dang, this is intense.
‘Skid marks now show the path the ambulance took as it slowed onto a vacant grassy lot. White stopped the ambulance just a few feet from an embankment with a 50-foot drop— a drop that would have certainly proved fatal if the ambulance had gone over, White believes.’
Moving on.

#3 Dog alerts parents to teen’s stroke, makes ‘massive’ difference, doctors say - Time was of the essence as the healthy, athletic high school senior suffered a medical emergency overnight. No one was aware, except the family dog.
Source: today.com
‘Her husband finally went downstairs and opened the sliding door to let the dog outside, but Axel didn’t follow. Instead, the dog stopped in front of the closed bedroom door of the couple’s 17-year-old son, Gabriel, and wouldn’t move.
His parents didn’t know it yet, but inside, their healthy, athletic high school senior was having a stroke.’
‘“It’s very amazing that their dog alerted and started this whole process of getting everyone awake and going downstairs,” Effendi tells TODAY.com.’
‘Gabriel says he didn’t have any health problems before his stroke on Aug. 26. He had a headache the night before, but felt better, played video games and went to sleep. The stroke happened sometime overnight.’
‘The cause of the stroke was a dissection, or tear, of an artery that delivers blood to the brain.’
‘That’s what happened in Gabriel’s case. His arterial dissection was spontaneous, one of the leading causes of stroke in people under 30, Effendi says.’
Strokes in people under 30? All, what? Both of them?
‘Less than two months after his stroke, Gabriel has made “amazing” progress, Effendi says. He’s taking classes from a homebound teacher and receiving physical, occupational and speech therapy at TIRR Memorial Hermann, a rehabilitation hospital in Houston, Texas.
“I feel like as I was before,” he says.’
I’m not really trying to piss in your punch, but — it doesn’t really sound like you feel like as you were before, son.
‘Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha who is currently in Beijing to participate in the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, has suffered from acute myocardial infarction, according to the hospital where he is undergoing treatment.’
‘He was diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction and was immediately taken to the cath lab, where an emergency coronary angiography showed an occlusion [obstruction] in the obtuse marginal branch (OM) and significant stenosis in the left anterior descending artery (LAD), the hospital said.’
After getting out of the hospital he quickly attended the Forum on the dangers of global warming.
‘He also highlighted the plight of climate vulnerable mountainous countries like Nepal which have been bearing the disproportionate brunt of climate change.’

Source: aol.com
‘“I was driving to go film and I feel my chest getting really heavy. [I] just felt like there was something wrong with my body,” Dixie, 21, shared during The D’Amelio Show season 3 finale, which premiered on Wednesday, October 18. “I thought I was shutting down.”’
‘Dixie explained that when she was in high school, she was diagnosed with Psychogenic Nonepileptic Seizures (PNES), which are “a physical symptom of anxiety.”
PNES attacks “may look like epileptic seizures but are not caused by abnormal brain electrical discharges,” according to the Epilepsy Foundation. “Instead, they are a manifestation of psychological distress.”’
Okay. Wow. Great explanation. I almost let this one pass until I noticed Dixie blamed it on:
‘“lack of sleep, dehydration, caffeine — it was a perfect storm.”’
I don’t know. Maybe it was just a perfect storm.
Adieu
Really dig the new format. Always appreciate the light hearted view on normalcy this has developed into. Thought we lost you for a bit. If you ever consider a tee, I'm down for one. Your rabbit has the right attitude.
Thanks for reporting.
