I gave up on ordering these awhile back. Someone mentioned they would have promoted this or that story to a higher position on the list and it got me to thinking, so I started to order this one and, boy oh boy… really, it’s almost worse than writing about it is thinking about the ranking. A child dies mid-flight here. But a fire department vehicle crashes into the side of building there. A celebrity’s son has Guillain-Barre here, but then an Olympian’s sister dies suddenly at the games there. It’s really all over the place.

#1 U.S. water polo star Maggie Steffens' sister-in-law dies after traveling to Paris

‘In June, Weston was traveling with her family on vacation when she suddenly became ill and then unresponsive in flight.’

‘Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said the death of Sydney Weston of Carl Junction, Missouri was caused by complications from chronic primary adrenalitis in the setting of multiple infections, including strep and enterovirus.

Weston also had duodenitis, which is inflammation in the first part of one’s small intestine, along with thyroiditis, a general term for thyroid gland inflammation.

The three diagnoses are suggestive of an underlying autoimmune disorder, Harwood said.’

No mention of any type of lifelong struggle with an autoimmune disorder. Not much information at all, actually, of course, so that might be reading too much into it. But, it’s an 8 year-old girl that suddenly died on a plane trip. If she had ANY kind of known condition then I have a feeling that condition would be part of the story, if not part of the headline.

It sounds like sudden autoimmune disease to me.

A common problem. I imagine.

‘But it was such a vicious cycle: The more I worked out, the more my body needed rest. The more I couldn’t rest, the more I relied on caffeine and supplements.’

‘In becoming addicted to the adrenaline and endorphins my workouts gave me, my “healthy” habits had become unhealthy.’

Ah. And there it is. Hysterectomy.

‘Despite the many wounds I have sustained — both over the last few weeks as well as long before that — my forced stay in the hospital has brought much-needed restoration and healing for more than just my body.’

There is a little irony in that part about the “forced hospital stay,” isn’t there? But it’s dark irony and I want no part of it. I would say “At least she isn’t baffled,” but I’m afraid this symptom is far worse. The baffled exist in a state of denial. This person exists in the whole next universe of denial. It’s like the membrane of denial got so overcrowded it circled back on itself, and now people are floating around in little denial exosomes.

At least, that’s my take.
