Highway crash, Mayor crash, Fair St. crash, and two spectators stop two sporting matches. A doctor is noticing patients dying of cardiac arrest in his waiting room...

…and has written an article about the wait times. The “fallen” overwhelm the “ambulances” at a rock concert in Germany, while intestinal blockage stops a rapper in New York. Something sends the crowd scrambling at an amusement park, and something else brings a couple airplanes to unexpected destinations. It’s TROME.

#1 Medical issue leads to Highway 156 crash in Macon County

‘A single-vehicle accident occurred on August 23, 2024, at 5:50 a.m. on Highway 156, two miles west of South Gifford in Macon County.’

‘The Hyundai Elantra sustained minor damage and was towed from the scene by Stills. Edwards, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, experienced a medical emergency while driving westbound, causing her vehicle to leave the roadway.’

‘Officials with the City of Overland Park have announced that around noon on Saturday, Aug. 25, Mayor Curt Skoog was involved in a single-vehicle collision in Kansas City, Kansas.’

‘As of Sunday, city officials said they believe the incident to have occurred as the result of a medical event. No one else had been involved or injured.’

‘Both teams had a doctor on the sideline and they were first to respond, while the venue was equipped with a defibrillator.’

These days? I’ll bet it was.

‘Two more ambulances attended the scene and the spectator was transferred by road to Cork University Hospital just after 5pm. Two Garda cars also arrived to provide assistance.’

‘A football club has issued a statement after a young man in the crowd suffered a medical emergency during a match.’

‘The medical incident happened in one of the stands 20 minutes into the fixture between Bury Town FC and Wroxham FC in Bury St Edmunds and resulted in players leaving the pitch.’

‘Emergency services were called but a warning of a two hour wait was given so the young man, who is a season ticket holder, was collected by family members.’

‘According to a statement on the Bury Town FC website, he is now feeling much better.’

‘“Many people feel like we are watching the collapse of our system in real time,” said [Dr.] Katz.’

Whatever gave him that idea.

‘A Winnipeg emergency room doctor is sounding the alarm over escalating wait times that have seen some patients suffer cardiac arrest in waiting rooms.’

Waiting in a hospital waiting room causes cardiac arrest?

Citation needed.

‘It’s now routine for patients to wait 10 to 15 hours for care, a potentially dangerous situation said Katz, who works at St. Boniface Hospital — noting bottlenecks aren’t in emergency departments, but rather in patient outputs.’

‘“If your sink is clogged, the solution isn’t to build a bigger sink,” he said. “You have to fix the clog.”’

A clogged sink doesn’t cause heart attacks either.

‘“I would make the argument that there are certainly people who have had negative outcomes because of their wait time,” he said.’

And that’s as strong as that argument gets.

Well, it sounds like people are indeed dying to heart attacks in waiting rooms in Winnipeg, according to this doctor. And it is true that hospital wait times have increased there:

Looking at the above graph I am reminded of another one I’ve seen recently — in that JAMA article about heat deaths I just covered:

What I argued then is the same thing I’m arguing now — and with the same hockey stick graph. Graphs tell stories with pictures, so let’s go. Let’s now look at these two same graphs but with data from 2021 onwards lopped off:

To me, each of these two above graphs represent a flat or downward trend.

Something happened in 2021 and everyone knows what it is.

Those responsible for ignoring it are becoming just as responsible as those that did it in the first place.

#7 Mother (41) dies at „Böhse Onkelz“ concert

‘According to BZ information, the fan who died is said to be a 41-year-old woman who was at the concert with her daughter and boyfriend.’

‘A private rescue service hired by the organizer tried to resuscitate the woman – in vain. She is said to have died around 23 a.m. in front of her loved ones. What exactly was initially unclear.’

‘The fire department has not yet been able to provide any information about the death because the private medical service took over the rescue measures on site.’

That’s what you call foreshadowing, it turns out.

‘About an hour earlier, the fire department's rescue workers were also on duty reviving another person in the audience. She initially appeared to have an attack of weakness, but then went into cardiac arrest.’

Survived.

‘In total, the Berlin fire department was deployed seven times during the concert, treating injured ankles, fallen people and fans with circulatory collapses.’

Other reporting said there were extra emergency vehicles there to begin with, but amidst the “circulatory collapse,” whatever that is, the cardiac arrest, and the other “fallen people” issues, the fire department had to be called in as well. Seven times.

#8 TLC's T-Boz is 'doing great' following medical scare that canceled shows

‘TLC singer Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins is "doing very well" after suffering a medical emergency moments before hitting the stage Friday at the New York State Fair.’

‘"Tionne is doing great!!" a representative for TLC said to USA TODAY in a statement Monday.’

Oh, this ought to be good.

‘"It was just one of those freak things that can happen to anyone that has had abdominal surgery or like in Tionne's case a c-section years ago that can cause scar tissue in their stomach to irritate their intestines and cause a blockage."’

This “intestinal blockage” thing is really a thing. Could it be the calamari clots?

‘The girl group, consisting of Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, canceled their Aug. 23 appearance less than an hour before they were set to perform after T-Boz suffered from a "severe abdominal blockage," according to a release posted on Instagram from the event's organizers.’

‘[…] shortly after arriving in Syracuse, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins experienced sudden and severe nausea, vomiting, and intense abdominal cramps."’

‘Due to Watkins's abdominal blockage diagnosis, TLC was also forced to cancel the Saturday show, where they were expected to perform with Shaggy at the Premiere Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut.’

#10 Bengaluru-Patna flight makes emergency landing in Nagpur after passenger suffers seizure

‘An IndiGo flight en route from Karnataka capital Bengaluru to Patna on Friday, had to be diverted for an emergency landing at the Nagpur Airport after a passenger experienced a severe medical crisis mid-flight. The incident occurred when the passenger, who was not named, began showing alarming symptoms including intense shaking, loss of consciousness, and body stiffness, according to a report by news agency PTI.’

‘Following the emergency landing, the passenger was promptly transported to the KIMS-Kingsway Hospital in Nagpur. A senior official from the hospital spoke to the media and said that the initial medical evaluation suggests the passenger may be suffering from a seizure disorder.’

#11 Lufthansa flight makes 'emergency landing' at Manchester Airport

‘A passenger jet heading towards the US was diverted to Manchester Airport and made an emergency landing today after a reported medical emergency on board.’

‘The M.E.N. understands a passenger complained of chest pains, prompting the captain to divert the flight. It was met by emergency services including firefighters on the runway as per policy, but the airport said no intervention by firefighters was required.’

‘Paramedics are understood to have assessed the passenger at the scene. Their condition is not known.’
